All Irinos boxes are automatically assigned an address upon switch-on. The master box always has the address 0. The slave boxes are numbered consecutively in the order in which they are connected. The order of the boxes also determines the initial numbering of the measurement inputs and the digital inputs/outputs.
Positioning the Master Box
A special situation arises when the Master Box is neither the first nor the last Irinos box, i.e. when slave boxes are connected to both SC-Link connectors on the Master Box. In this case, numbering begins with the slave boxes connected to the upper SC-Link connector on the Master Box. It then continues with the slave boxes connected to the lower SC-Link connector of the master box. It is recommended that the master box be used as the first or last Irinos box. The IR-PU power supply is an exception to this, as it is not addressed.
Addressing process
The duration of the addressing process depends on the number of connected boxes. Typically, it takes only a few seconds. With a large number of Irinos boxes, it can take up to 15 seconds.
Before a box has been assigned an address, the digits on the 7-segment display rotate clockwise:
Once addressing is complete, the box number is displayed on the 7-segment display. The exception is the first box with a 7-segment display: on this, the IP configuration is displayed first, followed by the box number.
As part of the box addressing process, the first and last boxes are also identified. Termination is automatically enabled for both.
Test
After switching on the system for the first time, check that all slave boxes have been assigned an address. Furthermore, no error messages should be displayed on any of the boxes.
