The simplest form of measurement is known as static measurement, in which the measured values from all measurement channels are updated asynchronously at a refresh rate of approximately 30 Hz. It is always active and requires no configuration. For many measurement tasks, this is entirely sufficient.
In addition to static data acquisition, the Irinos system also offers the option of fast, real-time data acquisition at up to 4,000 data points per second. All measurement channels connected via the SC-Link interface can be utilised at full speed. Furthermore, all digital inputs and outputs can be utilised.

All Irinos boxes connected to the SC-Link interface share the same system time, known as ‘SC-Link time’ (unit: µs). Any technical deviations of individual Irinos boxes from the SC-Link time are continuously corrected. The user does not need to configure or monitor this. In practice, these deviations are in the range of a few microseconds (µs).
The acquisition of measured values is triggered simultaneously for all Irinos boxes based on the SC-Link time. The measured values are then temporarily stored in the Irinos box’s internal buffer and subsequently merged with the other measured values by the master box. This allows the measured values from all channels to be acquired simultaneously at very high speed.
For time-limited real-time measurement, the following applies: real-time capability is independent of the number of probes, as each Irinos box has its own measurement value buffer. For example, all measurement channels can be recorded simultaneously at a measurement rate of 4,000 measurement values per second. The memory is sized such that, at the maximum measurement rate, the measured values can be recorded for at least 10 seconds. At lower measurement rates, this time increases accordingly.
Only the transfer time to the PC depends on the number of channels and the measurement rate. As a rough guide, depending on the data type of the connected probes, between 80,000 and 200,000 measurement values per second can be transferred.
For continuous real-time measurement, the maximum measurement rate depends on the number of channels. The following maximum measurement rates are recommended:
