Safety instructions

Attention

Damage caused by opening the device

Do not open the Irinos components. They are designed in such a way that opening them is not necessary. The measurement box and/or the measurement system could be damaged. This could result in malfunctions or destruction.

Opening the Irinos components will invalidate the warranty.

Attention

Unintended operating situation

High-frequency radiation, e.g. from mobile phones, interferes with device functions and may cause the Irinos measurement system to malfunction.

People may be injured and the equipment may be damaged.

Avoid high-frequency radiation:

oRemove sources of radiation from the vicinity of the Irinos measurement system.

oSwitch off devices emitting radiation.

oReduce the transmission power of devices emitting radiation.

Ensure compliance with electromagnetic compatibility standards.

Warning

Electric shock

Inadequate earthing and/or isolation from the mains supply may result in injury to persons, damage to machinery and damage to the system.

Please note:

oFor the electrical supply, use only PELV circuits in accordance with IEC 60204-1 (Protective Extra-Low Voltage, PELV).

oYou must also take into account the general requirements for PELV circuits as set out in IEC 60204-1.

Use only power sources that ensure safe electrical isolation between the operating voltage and the load voltage in accordance with IEC 60204-1.

Warning

Hazards on unguarded machinery or plant

When operating machinery or plant, please note the following:

Hazards may exist on unguarded machinery, depending on the results of a risk assessment. These hazards may result in personal injury.

You can prevent personal injury in accordance with the risk analysis by taking the following measures:

oInstall additional protective devices on the machine or system. In particular, the programming, parameterisation and wiring of the peripherals used must be carried out in accordance with the safety performance (SIL, PL or Cat.) determined by the necessary risk analysis.

oThe intended use of the Irinos measurement system, which you must verify by carrying out a functional test on the plant. This enables programming, parameterisation and wiring errors to be detected.

oDocumentation of the test results, which you must include in the relevant safety documentation where required.

Attention

Components susceptible to electrostatic discharge

An Irinos box contains components susceptible to electrostatic discharge. These components can be destroyed simply by being touched, due to voltages that are well below the human perception threshold.

Do not open an Irinos box. This will prevent you from coming into contact with the susceptible components.

Attention

Damage to the Irinos measurement system during transport and storage

If an Irinos measurement system is transported or stored without packaging, the Irinos components are exposed to impacts, vibrations, pressure and moisture without protection. Damaged packaging indicates that environmental conditions have already had a significant impact on the Irinos components.

The Irinos components and/or the Irinos system may be damaged.

Do not dispose of the original packaging. Ensure the Irinos components are properly packaged during transport and storage.

Attention

Damage caused by condensation

If the Irinos components or the Irinos measurement system have been exposed to low temperatures or extreme temperature fluctuations during transport, e.g. in cold weather, moisture may condense on or inside the Irinos components (condensation).

Moisture causes short circuits in electrical circuits and damages the Irinos measuring system.

To prevent damage, proceed as follows:

oStore the Irinos components or the Irinos measuring system in a dry place.

oAllow the Irinos components or the Irinos measurement system to reach room temperature before commissioning.

oDo not expose the Irinos components or the Irinos measurement system to direct heat from a heater.

oIf condensation occurs, do not switch on the Irinos measurement system until it has dried completely or after waiting for approximately 8 hours.

Attention

Environmental conditions and chemical resistance

Environments that are unsuitable for Irinos components will interfere with their operation. Chemical agents (e.g. cleaning agents or operating fluids) may alter the colour, shape or structure of the device’s surface.

Irinos components may be damaged. This may result in malfunctions.

You should therefore observe the following precautions:

oOperate the Irinos measuring system only in enclosed spaces. Failure to do so will invalidate the warranty.

oOperate the Irinos measuring system only in accordance with the environmental conditions specified in the technical data.

oProtect the Irinos measuring system from dust, moisture and heat.

oDo not expose the Irinos measuring system to direct sunlight or other strong light sources.

oWithout additional protective measures, e.g. by supplying clean air, the Irinos measuring system must not be used in locations with adverse operating conditions caused by corrosive vapours or gases.

oUse only suitable cleaning agents.

Unauthorised and unsuitable cleaning agents may damage the device.

For light soiling, use only washing-up liquid; for heavy soiling, use methylated spirits or similar alcohols. Do not use the following cleaning agents:

oCorrosive solvents or abrasive cleaners

oSteam cleaners

oCompressed air

oVacuum cleaners

Caution

Unintended response when cleaning the Irinos measuring system

If the Irinos measuring system is switched on whilst being cleaned, controls may be activated unintentionally.

The Irinos measuring system or associated components may respond unintentionally. This may result in personal injury or damage to the machine.

Switch off the device before cleaning.
